The Tuskish bay is located a few kilometers north of Otranto just before the Alimini beach.

Sandy and uncontaminated, located in one of the most beautiful stretches of the Adriatic, it belongs to the prized "Protected Oasis of the Alimini Lakes", one of the most important ecosystems of Salento and Puglia and is one of the 100 places protected by the FAI.
How to get to the Baia dei Turchi
One of the ways to get to the Tuskish bay is by car via the coastal road that connects Otranto to Torre Sant'Andrea. Once you reach the edge of the road accessible by car, you need to park in one of the paid car parks located just before the pine forest. The distance that separates the Baia dei Turchi from your car will be approximately 400 meters of path

Why is the Baia dei Turchi called that?
The Tuskish bay owes its name to the period of invasion by the Ottoman soldiers, the Turks.
They landed in 1480 after having skirted the coast going up from Santa Maria di Leuca, which due to the height of the coast and the lack of sandy coast did not allow disembarkation
